Who made God?

That’s a brilliant question—and not easy to think about!

Everything we know has an origin - it comes from somewhere. Trees grow from seeds, houses are built by people, and even we are born from our parents. So it makes sense to ask, “Who made God?” But in Christian faith, God is understood a little bit differently.

God isn’t something inside the universe—God is the source of it.

So instead of being made, God could be thought of as “non-created”—the one who has always been, and from whom everything else comes.

It’s okay if that feels a bit mind-bending. Good questions about God often are.

Perhaps another good question to wonder about is this:

If God is the source of everything (including you and me), what does that say about how close God is to us?
